Kanyakumari
We drove down the west coast today and arrived at the southern most tip of India, Kanyakumari. There's a few very old temples here, some parts over 1500 years old. There are some epigraphs from the 3rd century BC. The air is hot and humid, it's a tropical paradise of cocanut trees and banana fields. Three bodies of water converge at this place, the Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean. The temple here is dedicated to the virgin Goddess Kanyadevi. We'll go to the beach to watch the sunset tonight. I read that the during the full moon in April, you can see the sun setting and the full moon rising in the same horizon. It's a magical place, a pilgramage for Hindu people. This is where Hanuaman came here before he flew to Sri Lanka to rescue Sita, Rama's wife. The beauty here is breathtaking. The people are very dark and the women exotic. We'll be here two nights.
