All Saints Day

We went shopping in Essen...It was really nice there. Plus I bought a very stylish green blazer. Yum!
These are some of the lights on the street. There are many many lights for Christmas...
Yesterday I went to a zoo where they had an Alaska exhibit all lit up for Halloween. It was funny for a couple reasons. Half of the animals on exhibit are in my backyard at home. Also, it seems everyone is a witch for Halloween. So it was a big witch party at the zoo. The Germans do it well though, very spooky at night! Even the polar bear was spooked out!
Today is All Saint's Day. We visited the cemetary along with half the town. It's a beautiful place. Not like ours with the graves all lined up, this had winding paths and many trees and small plots with shrubs and planted flowers. It was really nice there. Everyone comes out and lights candles on the graves and there was some sort of church service outside. The incense smelled wonderful. I met the priest who speaks english fairly well. The Lord's prayer sounds the same in all languages I think.
