Well, after some deliberation and a cup of tea, the gods decided I could finally arrive in Germany. I will spare you all the gory details of the trip but there was one funny moment. After literally running from one end of the Amsterdam airport to the other, only to find that my plane was gone. It was 4am my time and I didn't get a lot of sleep on the plane. The Dutch people are pretty hilarious without meaning to be. The girls are adorable in their classic airplane skirt suit. They want you to take a number and wait patiently and then they send you to three more lines to do the same thing. No one wants to tell you bad news, so they do it repeatedly by sending you to the next person who will tell you the same thing.
Anyway, I am in line trying to call home to wake up Markus so he can call his mom so she will go home. My phones are not working. I meet a woman from Boston who offers her new cell phone which she knows nothing about. I attempt to find the + key to dial international. It is 4 am. So, after much hilarity of asking people in line, she goes looking for the manual in her suitcase. She pulls out a novel size book and starts thumbing through it, I look at the title 'Pretty good joke book' She noticed finally too. She was too frazzled to laugh much, she travels with a joke book! Anyway, I finally figure out the right number combo and yell into the answering machine to Markus. Long story shorter...I grab a cuppucino and hunker down to sleep on the floor near the gate for 6 hours. Markus' mom picked me up, I ate some soup and went to bed. What wonderful sleep...

Frankly, I think if they made phone manuals into joke books they may make more sense and be a whole lot easier to use!!
